Objectives
The Sierra Leone Alliance against hunger, formed by different farmer Associations, NGO’s, and Civil Society groups all over the country, aims to fight against poverty and hunger in Sierra Leone. It strives to complement Government efforts by mobilizing more resources and enhancing direct access to food by the most needy through community works, agriculture production projects, raising awareness, advocacy, and capacity-building through training. Because of its extensive experience working in rural communities and its extensive outreach through local associations, SLAAH is in a position to take action and reach any constituency in the country.
The aim of SLAAH is to reinforce the nationwide effort to achieve the World Food Summit objective of reducing the number of undernourished by half by 2015, and hence of achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), by strengthening national commitment and action to end hunger and poverty.
